12-Day Super Luxury Gorilla, Chimps Trekking and Wildlife
From: USD $9,772.00
The main reason people visit Murchison Falls National Park is to see the spectacular namesake waterfall formed by the Nile as it explodes through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment. But Uganda’s largest national park is also a highly rewarding safari destination, whether you're hoping for dramatic encounters with the Big Five (all but one of which, rhino, is present) or more interested in spotting local specialties such as the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, the spindly-limbed patas monkey, or the dashingly colorful red-throated bee-eater and white-crested turaco.
Second only to elephants when it comes to bulk among African land mammals, white rhinos are intimidating creatures, as you'll see for yourself when you track them in Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch. This admirable rhino breeding project is home to plenty of other wildlife too, but Uganda's only population of rhinos does tend to steal the show, and it is a real thrill to encounter these peaceful grass-cropping giants on foot.
You get another chance to spend time in and around the magnificent Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Spending time in the presence of mountain gorillas is a real privilege, so we're sure you'll enjoy trekking deep into the forest to find them. This is one of the most memorable experiences you can have while on safari.
